Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what we do (and don't do) with it.
Effective date: July 18, 2026
In short: we collect only what the service needs, use it only to operate your account, never sell or share it for advertising, and delete it on request.
1. Data We Collect
To run the service we collect: (a) account data — your name and email address, supplied when you sign up via Google; (b) product data — the product name, description, and target market categories you add on the onboarding; (c) roadmap data — the feature names and initiative descriptions you upload; (d) billing metadata — plan, billing period, and the last four digits of the card on file (full card numbers never touch our servers, as Stripe handles them directly); and (e) usage data — basic request logs needed to keep the service running.
2. How We Use It
Your account and product data are used to operate the dashboard and authenticate you. Your roadmap data is used to map filing classification codes to your product space and to rank alerts for relevance — never to train shared models and never to build aggregate public reports. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising.
3. Sharing & Third Parties
We share data only with the vendors that operate the service on our behalf, all bound by confidentiality and data-processing terms. These are: USPTO and EPO public databases (we query them for filings; they do not receive your account data); Stripe (payment processing); our hosting provider (encrypted application data at rest); and Google (authentication, which returns your name and email to us during sign-in).
4. Cookies & Authentication
We use a single first-party session cookie set by better-auth to keep you signed in and a CSRF token cookie to protect form submissions. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. If you arrive from an email, the email provider may set its own tracking pixels on open — that is outside our control.
5. Your Rights
You can access, correct, or delete the product and roadmap data you have stored with us at any time from the dashboard. To access, correct, or delete your account itself — or to request a complete export of everything we hold about you — email us at the address below. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.
6. Data Retention
Account and roadmap data is kept for the life of your account and deleted within 30 days of account closure. Backups of deleted data are purged within a further 90 days. Anonymized, aggregated counts (e.g. "1,234 alerts sent this month") may be retained indefinitely for capacity planning — these cannot be tied back to you.
7. Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Account passwords and API keys are never stored in plaintext. Access to production data is limited to a small set of operators bound by confidentiality, with audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will notify you without undue delay.
8. Children's Privacy
ClaimGuard is intended for adults running businesses. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will close it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We will post material changes here. Where the change affects what we collect or how we use it, we will notify active accounts by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the version in force.
